To reset an Android tablet, navigate to the Backup and reset menu from the Settings Menu, backup your data, select Factory data reset, and tap Reset Phone. Wait for the phone to restore the settings. The process is complete when the phone reboots.
- Go to the Backup and reset menu
Navigate to the home screen of the tablet. Press the Menu key, followed by the Settings button. From the Settings menu, look for the Backup and reset menu. Its exact location varies by model, but try the Personal menu.
- Backup your files
If your tablet comes with a backup service, tap Backup up my data from the Backup and reset menu. If your tablet does not include a backup service, you can use a third-party app that you download from the Google Play Store. If you are using a third-party app, open the program from the Apps screen, and follow the instructions.
- Reset your device
Once your data is backed up, return to the Backup and reset menu. Tap Factory data reset. Review the actions that are performed during a factory reset. If you have expanded storage, you may be asked if you want to reset the SD card. This step is not necessary to reset your tablet. Once you are ready to proceed with the reset, tap Reset device.
