How do you reset an oil light?

To reset the oil light, find the reset button usually located near the speedometer and fuel gauge, and press it until the oil symbol or word flashes. While completing this process, the car's systems should be on, but the engine should be off.

To test that the reset worked, turn the car off and back on to see if the oil indicator disappeared. The reset process may have to be repeated if the oil indicator is still flashing or lit up. If the reset button is not on the dashboard, it could be located under the hood. Make sure that the oil light is reset only after changing the oil.
