Do residential TV antenna towers work with HD stations?
By Forinfos - 20/07/2025 - 0 comments
Residential TV antenna towers work with HD stations as long as they are sufficiently powerful and receive a strong signal. TV antennas that receive both VHF and UHF channels from 2 to 51 are powerful enough to receive HD stations, as of 2015.
The Federal Communications Commission states that a special antenna marketed as digital- or HD-capable is not necessary, and recommends that consumers try their pre-existing antenna equipment before purchasing a new antenna.
A digital television or digital-to-analog converter box is necessary to receive HD stations, but this is separate from antenna equipment. This equipment is required even when using a new antenna.
