Reviews of Smithfield Farm hams are split between positive and negative reviews, as of September 2015. ConsumerReports.org rated the ham as one of the best holiday hams in 2013.
Positive reviews cited the ham as flavorful, with a complementary salt and smoke ham flavor; not too sweet or complex; and traditionally moist. Negative reviews included comments such as too salty, too moist, slightly sour, variable texture and sliced too thinly. One review said the ham was expensive and "not worth it." Smithfield Farms is a Virginia-based maker of holiday hams. Among its popular hams are the traditional Smithfield ham, country ham, spiral-sliced ham, petite ham and sugar-cured ham.
