Get rid of creosote by applying a spray or powder product inside the flue and then heating it to 300 degrees Fahrenheit to peel the residue from the flue walls. The resulting soot can be swept away with a chimney brush.
- Apply anti-cresote spray or powder
Spray the inner walls of the chimney flue with spray or powder, or pre-treat wood with the material prior to burning.
- Heat the chimney to burn away the creosote
Light a fire, and bring the temperature up to 300 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Sweep away the ash
Use a chimney brush to sweep away the leftover ash.
