The treatment typically consists of two doses taken two weeks apart. The first dose of pyrantel pamoate is intended to kill all existing pinworms, and the second dose is a follow-up to kill any pinworms that hatched after the first treatment. The medication comes in a liquid or chewable pill, and it is not recommended for people with liver problems or pregnant or breastfeeding women.
