How do you find the right size of saddle?

Horseback riders find the correct size saddle by considering their height, weight, waist measurements and thigh measurements. They also need to consider the types of riding they are doing, because an event with quick turns or fast stops requires a smaller seat size than cutting or climbing hills.
Horseback riders should have 4 inches between them and the saddle's swell for general riding. Their backsides should rest against the back of the cantles, and their thighs should not touch the swells. Riders with long legs may need larger seat sizes to prevent their knees from going in front of the fenders. Padded seats fit 1/3 inch to 1/2 inch smaller than hard seat saddles.
