When was Robins Air Force Base opened?

Robins Air Force Base opened in 1942 as Warner Robins Army Air Depot and became Robins Air Force Base in February 1948. It is a United States Air Force base located in Wellston, south of Macon, Georgia. Robins is one of three Air Force Air Logistic Centers, along with Ogden Air Logistics Center and Oklahoma City Air Logistics Center.

Robins Air Force Base was named for Brigadier General Robins, mentor to Army Colonel Charles Thomas, who was chosen to oversee the new base. It is located on 2.7 square miles. As of 2015, the base is the largest industrial complex located in Georgia and employs more than 25,000 people.
