When was Barskdale Air Force Base established?

Barksdale Air Force Base was officially established during its dedication ceremony on February 2, 1933. The base's first combat organization, the 20th Pursuit Group, arrived on October 31, 1932, and it had a fully operational training program by the time of the ceremony. Barksdale Air Force Base is located near Bossier City in Louisiana.

Air Corps captain Harold Ross Harris and the citizens of Shreveport selected the location of Barksdale Air Force Base in 1928. The Air Corps officially chose the location on December 5, 1928, and construction began in 1931. It was named in honor of Lieutenant Eugene Hoy Barksdale, who served as an aviator with the United States Army in World War I.
