When is the World Series for baseball held?

The World Series of baseball is held each October. This tradition goes back to the first World Series, which was held in 1903. A nickname for the World Series is the Fall Classic, since it is played in autumn.

Since the World Series began in 1903, it has been held every year, except in 1904 and 1994. In 1904, the owner of the New York Giants refused to play against the Boston Americans. In 1994, all Major League Baseball players went on strike in August. The strike did not end until April 1995, and so the 1994 World Series that was scheduled for that October never occurred.
