Tinker Air Force base was built in 1941, and remains in use as of 2015. The base is located in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and is also used by the U.S. Navy and Department of Defense to carry out missions.

Originally known as Midwest Air Depot, the base is the headquarters of the Air Force Material Command's Oklahoma City Air Logistics Center. This logistics center is the worldwide manager for numerous aircraft, engines, missiles, software, avionics and accessories components. Among the units located at the base are the 72d Air Base Wing, the 76th Maintenance Wing, the 38th Cyberspace Engineering Group and the Oklahoma Wing Civil Air Patrol.
