Why is A-Rod suspended?

A-Rod, also known as Alex Rodriguez, was suspended for allegedly using performance enhancing drugs and participating in what is known as the MLB Biogenesis Scandal. A-Rod and 12 other players had received synthetic testosterone and human growth hormone from Biogenesis of America, an anti-aging clinic in Florida.

A-Rod was given a 50-game suspension in 2014, which he appealed. In January 2014, he stated that he had not used performance enhancing drugs or violated the Joint Drug Agreement, and claimed that the record contained no credible evidence of his guilt. All-Stars Nelson Cruz, Jhonny Peralta, and Everth Cabrera were also given 50-game suspensions.
