What is the role of a procurement coordinator?

By Forinfos - 05/02/2026 - 0 comments

Procurement coordinators are leaders of a purchasing team who use business concepts and contract management to obtain materials for project management purposes. Procurement coordinators work closely with senior leadership of a program as well as major suppliers to ensure program objectives are met and stay on schedule.

Procurement coordinators are responsible for making timely and cost-effective buying decisions that remain within the budget of the project. They must determine product need and identify, communicate and negotiate with suppliers while setting up shipments, delivery and payment schedules to coordinate with the scheduled work flow on the project.

Subcontracts for outsourced suppliers and program schedules, as they relate to materials, are monitored and managed by the procurement coordinator of a program.
