What is the role of workers in day care?

The role of day care workers is to plan and implement programs that nurture children in a safe, secure environment, according to Hillsborough County Public Schools. Their job is to promote the physical, emotional, intellectual and social development of children in accordance with local and federal regulations.

Workers should ensure children are supervised at all times and engage them in stimulating experiences including songs, games, stories, and activities that introduce and develop math and literacy concepts. The staff should also help children form good habits by establishing regular routines, offering nutritious snacks and lunches, implementing positive guidance and discipline when appropriate, and providing suitable play equipment and physical activities.

It is extremely important to keep accurate and confidential records as well and establish good relationships with the children?s families, sharing information about the children?s development with their parents on a regular basis.
