How do you roll your hair with spiral rods?

To roll your hair with spiral rods, brush it, fasten it into equal sections with butterfly clips, roll each section down a spiral rod, bend the rods until the ends cross, and leave them in for 20 minutes. This 45-minute procedure requires a hairbrush, alligator clips, spiral rods, hairspray and hair elastics.

1. Prepare your hair

   Brush your hair thoroughly. Divide it into even segments, and secure each with an alligator clip.

2. Wrap the first rod

   Release a section of hair at the front of your head, and spray both sides with hairspray. Hold a spiral rod next to that section, and wrap the roots of your hair around the top of the rod. Continue until all of the hair is wrapped around the rod, and secure it with a hair elastic at the bottom.

3. Bend the rod

   Hold one end of the rod in each hand, and bend it down toward your neck. Cross one end over the other to secure it in the proper position. Wrap and bend the rest of the rods in this manner.

4. Wait 20 minutes

   Leave the rods in your hair for at least 20 minutes.

5. Unwrap the rods

   Unwrap the rods one at a time. Grasp the ends, unbend them, and roll the rod out of your hair. Set your curls with a light mist of flexible-hold hairspray.
