Romeo and Juliet first meet at a masquerade ball at Juliet's home, in the Great Hall of the Capulet household. This takes place in Act One, Scene Five of William Shakespeare's famous play, "Romeo and Juliet."
For Romeo, a Montague, and his companions, it is forbidden to enter the Capulet mansion. However, Romeo, Benvolio and Mercutio attend the masquerade party anyway, wearing masks; no one notices them. During the party, Romeo sees Juliet and quickly makes his way to her. He is instantly in love, and she consents to a kiss. After this kiss, Romeo finds out from Juliet's nurse that the woman he has fallen in love with is from the rival Capulet family.
