When was "A Rose for Emily" by William Faulkner published?

William Faulkner's short story, "A Rose for Emily," was first published in the April 30, 1930, edition of Forum magazine. It was Faulkner's first publication in a magazine with national circulation.

"A Rose for Emily" was subsequently included in a 1931 short story collection called "These 13" and has been widely anthologized since. The story has also been the subject of much critical and interpretive attention, having had, according to critic John L. Skinner, "some hundred articles" devoted to it.

To many scholars, especially Northern literary analysts, "Emily" represents the South's profound antipathy to change, and even to the concession of its possibility or inevitability.
