What is a ruby loropetalum?
By Forinfos - 09/07/2025 - 0 comments
The ruby loropetalum is an evergreen shrub bearing fragrant pink flowers, named for its ruby red foliage during autumn months. Native to China, Japan and the Himalayas, the shrub is a popular addition to woodland gardens and as a border shrub.
The shrub requires rich, well-drained soil with plenty of sunlight and watering to reach its potential and grows best in planting zones 7 through 10. The ruby loropetalum may survive colder zones with the addition of garden mulch to protect the root system but should only be planted in microclimates of full sun that are not subject to damage from wind and other elements.
