A recreational vehicle hitch receiver is a special component that allows trailers and vehicles to be flat towed behind an RV. A hitch receiver follows a design that uses a solid steel bar, along with two brackets that are drilled and mounted to the underside of the RV chassis.

The RV receiver is special because it is designed specifically for a larger camper or trailer. The hitch allows vehicles to be flat towed, which can increase the storage space on the RV by allowing access to towing additional trailers. Hitch receivers are available from RV parts manufacturers, such as Curt RV, which makes hitch receivers that can handle up to 6,000 lbs. of tow weight.
