What's a .22 K-Hornet?

The .22 Hornet cartridge was designed during the late 1920s by Grosvenor Wotkyns and a Winchester executive by the name of Townsend Whelen, and it was once the most accurate centerfire bullet available. The .22 Hornet is still very popular among hunters.

Finding success as a varmint cartridge, the .22 Hornet was first introduced to the public in late 1930 and was available as a softnose or a hollowpoint, both of which reached speeds of 2,500 feet per second. Notable rifles that fire the .22 Hornet include the Anschutz Model 1730, Browning Model 1885 Low Wall, Cooper Model 21, Ruger No. 1, Thompson Carbine and the Savage Model 40.
