Is it safe to keep a fennec fox as a pet?
By Forinfos - 27/04/2026 - 0 comments
FennecFoxes.net indicates that a fennec fox is the smallest fox species and it does make for a safe pet with proper care. Considered an exotic animal, the fennec fox requires some special care, but its small size and playful personality make it enjoyable for a family.
The fennec fox is similar in size to a cat, but has an active, social personality more like a dog. They do sometimes prefer independent time like a cat, however. Unless frightened, fennec foxes have a very mild body odor. After neutering, males often become more docile. Challenges include the animal's constant need for attention and grooming as well as the time involved for litter box training.
