What is a salesperson?

A salesperson is an individual who increases a company's business by selling that company's goods or services. Some salespeople sell to consumers, while others sell their company's products to other companies.

Salespeople focus on two primary objectives: to sell their products to customers, whether the customers are consumers or other businesses, and to retain existing customers by making sure the customers' needs are met.

A salesperson earns new business by presenting her products to individuals likely to purchase them and educating the individuals about the products' benefits. A salesperson retains existing customers by building relationships with them and continuing to provide high-quality products and attentive customer service to encourage the customers' trust and loyalty.
