Salonpas Pain Relief Patch provides up to 12 hours of relief from minor joint and muscle pain caused by arthritis, bruising, backaches, strains and sprains. The methyl salicylate topical patch is applied directly to the clean, dry skin of the affected area, according to drugs.com.
Once the liner is removed, the patch is applied to the skin over the area of pain by pressing the edges firmly into place. Patches may be applied up to four times daily, or as directed. Patients are advised not to use the topical on open wounds or skin that is sunburned, dry, chapped or irritated and should wash their hands immediately with soap and water after applying.
