Does salt kill ants?

Salt does not kill ants, but it does repel them. Ants do not like salt and leave any area treated with a salt and water solution.
Mix regular table salt with boiling water, and pour the solution into a spray bottle. Spray the salty mixture in and around all areas of the home where ants live and roam to diminish the ant problem quickly. Other foods and items that repel or kill ants include mint, black and cayenne peppers, soap, cucumbers, baby powder, citrus, cornmeal and perfume. Many of these items can be crushed or dissolved in water and sprayed around the home where ants enter and travel.
