Have any scams been associated with Just Energy?

In 2008, an Illinois court made Just Energy pay back $1 million to customers in a consumer fraud ruling. Although Just Energy promises its customers lower utility bills, more than 90 percent of its utility contracts lose money for its customers.

Just Energy has been fined by Ohio and New York as well. The Citizens Utility Board in Chicago, Illinois received so many complaints that it tried to have Just Energy's business license pulled. The company received 30,000 complaints in just one year alone in the state. The Toronto, Canada-based energy marketing company has not fared any better at home, receiving over $570,000 in fines for disreputable sales activities in Ontario.
