What is the density of stainless steel?
By Forinfos - 29/05/2026 - 0 comments
The density of stainless steel is 8,000 kilograms per cubic meter. Density is calculated by dividing the mass of the material by the volume.
There are five major types of steel: alloy steel, low-alloy steel, stainless steel, tool steel and carbon steel. Stainless steel is the most dense of all of the different types of steel. It is used to produce an array of objects including kitchen equipment, surgical instruments, pipes, sinks and space capsules. The inclusion of nickel, chromium and other key elements is what lends stainless steel its ability to maintain its color while inhibiting rust and resisting corrosion.
