What is the function of the oral cavity?
By Forinfos - 21/12/2025 - 0 comments
The oral cavity functions as the first part of the digestive tract, a secondary source of respiration, a sound manipulation area for speech and the location of sensory organs for taste. The oral cavity is the area directly behind the lips that extends to the top of the throat.
As part of the digestive tract, the oral cavity is where food is chewed and saliva is produced to help propel food toward the stomach. The upper portion of the oral cavity is where the hard and soft palates are located, with the tongue serving as the primary organ in the area.
