Xylol, also known as xylene is an enamel thinner that is primarily used for removing and cleaning alkyd-modified urethane enamels and similar materials. It is also used to clean up alkyd-based paints and hard to remove stains.
Xylene is an aromatic hydrocarbon that is made up of two methyl substituents and a benzene ring. This combination of chemicals forms a colorless and greasy liquid that is most formally known as a powerful solvent. Millions of tons of this volatile yet effective solvent are produced around the world every year, with one of the world's largest xylene plants being located in Singapore.
