Does The Scooter Store offer payment assistance for the disabled?

In September 2013, The SCOOTER Store announced that it was closing all its locations. The company filed for bankruptcy in April of that year. Its Medicare and Medicaid federal contract for reimbursement of product sales was scheduled to be cancelled on October 26, 2013.

The company's main office was raided by federal officers in February 2013. A U.S. government audit found that The SCOOTER Store had over-billed Medicare by more than $100 million between 2009 and 2012. Medicare is supposed to pay for only medically necessary scooters. However, The SCOOTER Store was billing the agency for devices sold to some patients who were able to use canes, walkers or regular wheelchairs.
