Do scorpions hibernate?
By Forinfos - 06/04/2026 - 0 comments
Scorpions hibernate during cold weather, which allows them to survive unfavorable conditions. This is possible because of their extremely low metabolic rate, which is similar to that of ticks and other invertebrates that survive for months without food.
Their ability to hibernate allows scorpions to thrive on every continent except Antarctica. Scorpions are found as far north as Alberta, Canada, and as far south as New Zealand. There are 13 families and over 1,750 unique species of scorpions worldwide, all of which are characterized by their eight legs, spider-like pedipalps (or grasping front legs), and a narrow, curved tail with a stinger.
