Why is Scott Peterson in prison?

Scott Peterson is in prison for the murder of his wife, Laci, and their unborn son, as of 2015. Peterson was convicted of the first degree murder of his wife and the second degree murder of his son in 2004, and was sentenced to death by lethal injection in 2005.

Scott Peterson is serving his sentence on death row in San Quentin State Prison and has appealed his conviction to the Supreme Court of California, as of 2015.

Laci Peterson was reported missing on Dec. 24, 2002, from her home in Modesto, California. The exact time and date, as well as the cause of her death, remain undetermined.
