How do you take screenshots on a MacBook?

To capture the entire screen, press and hold the Command key, Shift and 3. The screenshot is automatically added to the desktop after it is taken.

To capture a portion of the screen, press and hold the Command key, Shift and 4; then select an area using the crosshair pointer. The selection area can be re-sized by holding the space bar or Shift. To cancel a selection, simply press the Escape (esc) key before releasing the mouse button. To capture a specific window, press and hold the Command key, Shift and 4, then press the space bar and highlight the window by moving the mouse pointer over it, then click to capture.
