Will a second degree burn cause a scar?
By Forinfos - 11/03/2025 - 0 comments
Formation of scars is usually minimal with second degree burns, as stated by UNM Hospitals. A second degree burn is a burn that occurs when both the first layer and the second layer of the skin have been burned.
The burned spot usually develops a blister with severe swelling and pain. The wound can be pink or red depending on its thickness. A second degree burn can be caused by electricity, flames, scald injuries, chemicals and sunburn. The burn usually takes up to 3 weeks to heal, but deep burns can take longer. Dressing the wound and using antibiotic ointments should help in treating the burn.
