Where is Senegal located?

The country of Senegal is located in western Africa. Senegal borders Gambia, Mali, Mauritania, Guinea-Bissau and Guinea. The North Atlantic Ocean is situated off the western coast of Senegal. Senegal's coastline stretches for approximately 330 miles along the North Atlantic.

Senegal's geographic makeup consists largely of low, rolling plains, and parts of foothills in the southeastern part of the country. Senegal covers a total area of about 76,000 square miles, being a little lesser in size than South Dakota. It is the 88th largest country in the world, as of 2014. The capital and largest city of Senegal is Dakar, found along the western coast.
