What is a serological pipette?
By Forinfos - 26/03/2026 - 0 comments
Serological pipettes are transparent, hollow, cylindrical devices for transferring liquids in a lab setting. They have markings on the outside denoting the volume of the liquid on the inside. The markings are calibrated for use at room temperature. These markings extend to the tip.
Serological pipettes are usually disposable. They are used with pipette pumps to suck up and drain liquid, similarly to how an eye dropper works but with much more precision. Some serological pipettes, called blow-out or TC pipettes, are designed to drain completely, while others, called TD pipettes, are designed to leave a single drop in the tip when draining.
