A serving of fruit is equal to one medium-sized fruit approximately the size of a baseball, a half cup of cooked, chopped or canned fruit, or a half cup of juice. The USDA recommends that adults eat between five to 13 servings of fruits and vegetables daily.
These guidelines may vary depending on an adult's age, physical activity, gender and overall health. A serving of vegetables is equal to 1 cup of raw leafy vegetables, a half cup of other vegetables or a half cup of vegetable juice. One serving of raw leafy vegetables is about the size of a fist.
