How do you set the margins according to the MLA format?

MLA format mandates 1-inch margins on all four sides of each standard-size 8 1/2-by-11-inch sheet. In addition, the start of each paragraph is indented 1/2 inch from the left margin.
MLA has requirements for other types of sizing and spacing as well. Page numbers must be properly positioned in a header section on each sheet. All numbers are placed in the upper right corner, 1/2 inch from the top of the page and even with the right margin. An MLA document is double-spaced, and 12-point font is used. The font must be simple and easy to read. Finally, only one space is left after any punctuation mark.
