The seven sisters rose, scientifically known as Rosa multiflora platyphylla or Rosa cathayensis platyphylla, is a climbing rose. The flower features seven bloom clusters that go through seven different color changes as they flower.

The seven sisters rose has been grown since the 1800s and is hardy in USDA Hardiness Zones 6 through 9. Unlike other roses, the seven sisters rose does well in poor soil and partial shade conditions. Typically, the flower grows 10 to 13 feet high but may reach up to 20 feet with its aromatic blooms. Colors range from purple or pink to red-purple and white.
