Do sharks have tongues?

The Florida Museum of Natural History states that sharks do have tongues. The tongue is referred to as a basihyal, which is a small, thick piece of cartilage located on the bottom of the shark's mouth.

With the exception of the cookiecutter shark, the basihyal serves no real purpose. The cookiecutter shark uses its tongue, or basihyal, to rip pieces of flesh out of their prey. Unlike humans, a shark's taste buds are not located on their tongue. Instead, the taste buds are located on the papillae. The papillae lines the shark's mouth and throat, and it is used to determine whether its prey is suitable for consumption.
