What do blue sharks eat?

Blue sharks primarily eat cephalopods, such as the blanket octopus or bathyscaphoid squid, and some small fish. During their migrations to breeding grounds off the coast of Brazil, their diets change to include sea birds, such as great shearwaters.

The blue shark is one of the fastest sharks in the ocean and has a streamlined body and an elongated tail fin for greater propulsion. Blue sharks have indigo dorsal fins and bright blue sides that fade to pale gray on the undersides, making them harder to see from above or below them. They have large eyes and sharp, triangular teeth that help them find and kill prey animals.
