How do you sharpen scissors?

Sharpen scissors by running the blade against the coarse side of a bench stone before using the fine side of the bench stone or sandpaper to complete the process. You need a bench stone and sandpaper. Most scissors can be sharpened in less than 10 minutes.

  1. Place the blade against the bench stone

    Open the scissors, and lay the blade against the coarse side of the bench stone.

  2. Move the blade against the stone

    Applying slight pressure, move the blade back and forth against the stone a few times.

  3. Use the fine side of the stone

    Turn the stone to the fine side, and repeat the process. Rub the blade with sandpaper if the stone does not have a fine side.
