How do you sharpen hair clippers?

Hair clippers are sharpened with a honing stone. Any blade with rust that is eroding the metal, or that is broken, should be disposed of and not reused.

  1. Remove and clean the blade

    Take the blade off of the clippers using a screwdriver. Clean off hair and dirt with a brush.

  2. Sharpen the blade

    Spray a little water on the 4,000-grain side of the honing stone. With the blade on the magnet, and with the teeth facing up and out, run the stone over it to sharpen. Switch to the 8,000-grain side to add final touches.

  3. Dry and reassemble the clippers

    Allow the blade to dry completely before screwing it back onto the clippers.
