What is the shelf life of fresh turkey?

Raw, fresh turkey or fresh ground turkey is good for one to two days past its printed "best by" date in the refrigerator. It is safe to eat for six to eight months when stored in the freezer.

Cooked turkey is safe for consumption for around seven days if stored in the refrigerator. Cooked frozen turkey is good for six to eight months.

Turkey purchased in a deli is good for five to six days past its printed "best by" date. When stored in the freezer, deli turkey lasts for about one month.

Store prepared turkey in a tightly closed container. Freeze turkey in a freezer-safe container or in its original packaging.
