What makes Shockwave Flash keep on crashing?

Although there are many reasons that could cause Adobe Shockwave Flash to crash, it is most commonly a problem when two versions of Flash, or two scripts, are running at the same time. This is a well-documented issue with Google Chrome, which comes with a preloaded version of Flash that competes with any other installed version of the software, causing the failure.

Because other Web browsers, such as Mozilla's Firefox, do not come with a pre-installed version of Flash, users often download Flash from the Adobe site. Once a user has two versions installed, Flash often causes a malfunction, even if the two browsers are not running at the same time.

A good solution is to disable one version of Flash. To do this, a user can type "about:plugins" into the address bar in Google Chrome. If there are two or more Flash files, a user can click on "Details" to see that, most likely, one version is installed in a Chrome folder and another in a system folder. To prevent further Shockwave Flash crashes, a user should disable one of the running versions of Adobe Flash. This decision may need to be reversed temporarily when the user switches browsers.
