CPR should be administered to the victim directly after the shock from the AED, according to the American Red Cross. After two minutes of CPR, make sure to stop touching the victim and use the AED to reanalyze his heart rhythm.

If no shock is indicated from the AED after the second analysis of the heart rhythm, begin re-administering CPR for another two minutes before reanalyzing the victim's heart rhythm for a third time. It is very important to pay close attention to any signs of life. If any signs of life are noticed, one should stop performing CPR and check the victim's pulse and breathing before re-analyzing the heart rhythm.
