Should machinery left in a house to dry out be checked daily?

Machinery left to dry out after a flood should be disconnected from the power source, or the power source can be shut off, making it unnecessary to check on daily during the drying-out process. Inspect all machinery carefully after drying out before attempting to use it.
In many cases it is cheaper to replace machinery than to attempt to dry it out and repair it. Remove the back panel from stoves to allow the insulation to dry out before testing. Replace refrigerators and freezers due to the potential to grow mold. Replace timing units in washing machines and dryers if the rest of the machine is usable.
