Should you really starve a fever?

According to WebMD, sick people should not starve a fever; they should eat foods high in antioxidants and protein. Chicken soup may help with nasal congestion and make mucus easier to cough out.
Aristotle actually advised people who had high fevers to gorge on food, according to HowStuffWorks. He believed that food for bodies was similar to wood for fireplaces. The more food in a body, the higher the body’s temperature. However, instead of telling people to not eat and thereby reduce their bodies’ temperatures, Aristotle told them to overeat in hopes that the food would burn out the illness.
