How often should you rotate radial tires?

Radial tires should be rotated every 5,000 miles or at the manufacturer's specified rotation intervals if those differ. Proper tire rotation at these intervals helps ensure longer tread life by balancing out the different types of forces each tire is subject to on the car's drive and steering wheels.
Most rotation procedures move the tires mounted on the drive wheels to the other set of wheels on the same side of the vehicle while swapping the sides of the other tires. For example, the two front tires of a front-wheel drive car are moved to the rear wheels on the same side during a rotation, while the right rear tire is moved to the left front wheel and the left rear tire to the right front wheel.
