What should you wear to a job fair?

Many sources recommend wearing a business suit to a job fair, though some say business casual attire can also be appropriate. The idea is to present a polished first impression to job fair recruiters.

The business suit should be in a dark conservative color such as navy blue, gray or black. It can be solid or have a small print pattern such as a pinstripe. Men should wear a collared shirt and a tie with it. Women should wear a blouse that complements the suit, which may have a skirt or slacks. The neckline of the blouse should not be too low.

For a less formal job fair or type of job, a nice blouse or shirt and skirt or slacks are acceptable.

Whether wearing a business suit or business casual attire, clothing should be clean and ironed. Jewelry and makeup should be restrained. Omit cologne, as some recruiters may be allergic to it.
