The easiest way to shuffle cards is to use the overhand shuffle. Handle the cards lightly, using the right thumb to lift out the cards a few at a time while holding the deck with the left hand.

Other popular shuffling methods include the Indian shuffle, the riffle or dovetail, and the Mexican spiral shuffle. These are typically used in situations where a professional or fancy shuffle is preferred, such as at a professional poker tournament. The pile shuffle is used by players of collectible card games, such as Magic: The Gathering, but it does not accurately randomize the cards the way other shuffles do.
